What is high frequency PCB?
High-frequency circuit boards refer to special circuit boards with higher electromagnetic frequencies, usually used in high-frequency (frequency greater than 300MHz or wavelength less than 1 meter) and microwave (frequency greater than 3GHz or wavelength less than 0.1 meter) fields. Specifically, when the frequency reaches or exceeds 1GHz, it can be called a high-frequency board. This type of circuit board is produced on a microwave-based copper-clad board using some of the processes of ordinary rigid circuit board manufacturing methods or using special processing methods.
Features
- Frequency characteristics: The main characteristic of high-frequency boards is that they can have excellent transmission performance in high-frequency working environments. This requires the board to have a lower dielectric constant and dielectric loss to reduce the loss of signals during transmission and improve signal transmission rate and receiving sensitivity.
- Fine structure: The thickness of high-frequency boards is thinner, and the line width and line spacing are finer than ordinary PCB circuit boards. This is to reduce crosstalk and reflection of signals during transmission and improve signal integrity.
- Material selection: Commonly used materials for high-frequency boards include RO4350B, RO4003C, etc. These materials have lower dielectric constants and dielectric losses and are suitable for high-frequency signal transmission. In addition, PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) materials are also widely used in high-frequency PCB manufacturing, and their frequencies are usually higher than 5GHZ.
Application
- Radio communication: In wireless communication systems, high-frequency boards are used to transmit high-frequency signals to ensure the stability and reliability of signals.
- Radar system: Radar systems need to process high-frequency signals, and high-frequency boards play a key role in ensuring that radars can accurately detect and track targets.
- Satellite communication: Satellite communication systems also require high-frequency boards to transmit and receive high-frequency signals to achieve long-distance communication.
- Automotive electronics: In the fields of automotive collision avoidance systems and autonomous driving, high-frequency boards also play an important role in processing communication signals between vehicles.
